About this Project

This project is the work of a Politics class at the University of Hong Kong during the 2010/2011 academic session. The course is called Globalisation: Salvation, Scourge or Myth? That question is one that this project seeks to answer through research about and analysis of a truly global product- the iPhone. The project split its analysis of the iPhone into three stages: extraction, production and disposal. Class members worked on one of these three issues and have written articles on the respective matters. Articles on each of these areas have been categorised accordingly. Ultimately, our aim as a class is to show, through this ubiquitous product, the double-sided reality of today’s world- how globalisation can connect and improve or threaten and destroy.
